Denunciation of and Withdrawal from International Treatise to Reimpose the Death Penalty (CHR A2017-002)

The CHRP, emphatically, reiterates that the Philippines is a State Party to the ICCPR and its Second Optional Protocol and an advocate against the death penalty. In addition, the CHRP and Dr. Ward argued that the reintroduction of capital punishment will have considerable impact on the standing of the Philippines in the International Community, its work within the UN, and its economic relations with trade partners.
