Position Paper on House Bill No. 5898 on Survivorship Benefits for Members of the Constitutional Commissions and the Ombudsman

The Commission on Human Rights reiterates its support to the bill in granting benefits to the surviving beneficiaries of an unmarried deceased retiree as such effort is in consonance with the State’s obligation to provide social justice and promote human rights. At the same time, the Commission is optimistic that the integration of human rights principles and standards in the proposed measure will strengthen and enrich the social protection framework of the government.
