70th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), a milestone document that proclaimed the inalienable rights which everyone is inherently entitled to as a human being—regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.

The UDHR serves as an inspiration in the continuing pursuit for freedom, equality, and dignity. The universality and enduring values encapsulated in the document and espoused by States provide the foundations for a most humane and just world where equality, justice, and human dignity can thrive and flourish.

As part of the anniversary celebration, an inter-agency campaign dubbed as “Manindigan para sa Karapatan” is being conducted, which will culminate on December 10, the last day of the National Human Rights Consciousness Week. We can all make a difference in re-cultivating stronger respect for human rights, more compassion that facilitates equality, and greater freedom for everyone to reach their utmost potential.

Ikaw. Ako. Tayo. Pantay-pantay sa karapatan at dignidad. Halina’t manindigan para sa karapatang pantao!
