The Commission on Human Rights pays tribute to the hardworking men and women who make up the working class and organized labor in the country. We recognize their efforts in coping with labor issues in the past and finding solutions in present challenges. Cognizant of the constitutional right to assembly and petition the government for redress of grievances, the Commission dispatched teams in the region to monitor Labor Day protests.

We urge to government to continue to promote policies that will uplift workers and their interests and fight measures that continue to exploit and violate basic human rights of the people we consider the bedrock of the Philippine economy.

Labor Day should also be a reminder to every Filipino to honor the struggles of the local labor workforce and migrant workers and collectively be part in promoting equal rights and putting an end to illegal and abusive working conditions.
