Opening Remarks of CHR Chairperson Richard P. Palpal-latoc during the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the New CHR Region IX Building (06 March 2023)

Hon. Zamboanga City Mayor John M. Dalipe, partners from Go Just, and colleagues from the CHR, good morning.

Today is significant not only for the CHR RO9 but for the entire CHR family as we witness the official groundbreaking for the soon-to-be-built edifice that will house the men and women of CHR R09, our regional arm that will push for the protection, promotion, and education of human rights in this part of the country. It will be a better and stronger structure conducive to working for the worthy cause of human rights.  Let this event signify the renewed commitment of RO9 and the entire CHR to improving our services, as we faithfully execute our mandate to uphold and protect the human rights of all, leaving no one behind.

From Left to Right: Zamboanga Mayor John Dalipe, CHR Region IX Director Atty. Judelyn Macapili, Chairperson Richard Palpal-Latoc, Commissioner Beda Epres

The construction of this new building would not have been possible if it were not for the continued collaboration with the local government, under the leadership of Hon. Mayor John Dalipe, the valuable support of Go Just, and the steadfast dedication and commitment of the men and women of CHR RO9 led by Atty. Judelyn Macapili. Our sincerest gratitude to all of you for making this happen.

We hope to see the day when our dream that the human rights cause will have greater reach, our presence greater felt, and our services satisfactorily provided to, our fellow beings, not only in the regions but also in the provinces, and the barangays, surpassing all efforts in the past. We trust today is the start of transforming an aspiration into a meaningful reality that can soon be seen, felt, and enjoyed by all.

Maraming salamat at magandang umaga po sa lahat.
