CHR strengthens resolve for human dignity as the nation welcomes the New Year

As the nation welcomes the New Year, the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) reaffirms its commitment to upholding the dignity and rights of every Filipino. Guided by its mantra, “CHR ng Lahat,” the Commission renews its commitment to protecting human rights of all, without exception, and in ensuring that no one is left behind.

The CHR is grateful for the partnership enjoyed with fellow public servants across all branches of government in our work of building a society anchored in accountability and justice. The Commission looks forward to more opportunities for collaboration, dialogue, and reform-driven partnerships, recognising that human rights challenges are increasingly interconnected. These challenges are shaped not only by domestic conditions, but also by regional and global developments, including emerging technologies and contemporary crises.

In carrying out this work, the CHR will firmly uphold its independence and constitutional mandate. The Commission will remain vigilant and serve as the conscience of government whenever power is abused and rights are placed at risk.

At the heart of the Commission’s mandate are the people it serves, particularly the weak, vulnerable, and marginalised. The resilience, compassion, and solidarity of Filipinos continue to inspire the CHR and give meaning to the pursuit of human rights.

As the year begins, the Commission calls on all branches of government to renew and strengthen their commitment as primary duty-bearers of human rights. Genuine development is not measured by economic growth alone. It is reflected in safe communities, a fair justice system, protected civic spaces, accessible social services, and the assurance that every Filipino, regardless of status, belief, or identity, can live free from fear, discrimination, and want.

In this spirit, the CHR calls for a shared commitment across all sectors to advance human rights and uphold the values of dignity, equality, accountability, and the rule of law that underpin a just and democratic society.

Muli, isang mapayapa at makabuluhang Bagong Taon sa ating lahat. ###
