Message of the CHR Chairperson

The current Commission En Banc VI started its term with a new mantra meant to define its stance and outlook in the next seven years—“CHR ng LAHAT: Naglilingkod maging sino ka man.”

In today’s reality where our diversity is our strength and challenge, this mantra captures the essence of CHR’s commitment to be the Filipino people’s independent national human rights institution ready and capable of serving Filipinos across all demographics without partialities and distinctions.

This publication provides an overview of CHR’s effort to navigate the complexities of contemporary human rights issues during CEB VI’s first year through four (4) chapters:

1. Forging Pathways of Partnerships: Engagements with government at the national and local levels;

2. CHR’s Bridging Role: Its collaborative work with civil society and other stakeholders;

3. Beyond our Borders: CHR and the global community advocating for human rights; and

4. Serbisyong May Husay at Puso: CHR’s commitment to building a just and humane society.

Due to page limitations, this compilation is by no means complete. However, it provides a better understanding and deeper appreciation of the Commission’s continuing narrative to further the cause of human rights through cooperation, critical collaboration, and partnership with all the stakeholders, duty-bearers and rights-holders alike. It showcases CEB VI’s willingness and openness to explore all possibilities that can lead us to a future that we and the generations of Filipinos after us, fully deserve: A life of respect and dignity where the ends of justice, equality, and human rights are championed and served.

May this publication inspire a renewed sense of solidarity and a call for shared responsibility in advancing human rights work so that new beginnings may soon engulf the horizon for all Filipinos to enjoy and benefit from.
