The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) has issued a policy advisory urging a rights-based and humanitarian approach to protect Persons of Filipino Descent (PFDs) in Sabah who are at risk of statelessness. Many PFDs in Sabah face immigration crackdowns, detention, and forced return, often under undignified conditions and without adequate support upon repatriation. The CHR highlights that addressing statelessness requires urgent legal, policy, and humanitarian interventions.
