The Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Observatory is a vital external resource dedicated to making GBV visible and improving access to relevant information and support. It serves as a comprehensive hub, offering a rich repository of data that includes international treaties, domestic laws, jurisprudence, and most importantly, the lived experiences of women, girls, and members of the LGBTQI community affected by GBV.
This dynamic platform provides current research, reports, and situationers, documenting how laws are implemented and how GBV manifests in various contexts. Beyond the Commission on Human Rights’ own reports, it integrates efforts from other government agencies, academic institutions, civil society organizations, and partners. The GBV Observatory directly contributes to the Commission’s mandate as a Gender Ombud, helping to monitor state obligations in addressing GBV and informing key policy recommendations.
