Statement of CHR spokesperson, Atty. Jacqueline Ann C. de Guia, on the death of a four-year-old kid during an anti-drug operation in Cebu

The Commission extends its condolences to the family of Skyler Abatayo for the child’s untimely death. We regret that innocent children continue to be victims of the violence linked to the campaign against illegal drugs. We urge the PNP to conduct an honest investigation of the incident, even using ballistic exam, to determine accountabilities and possible penalties for this wrongdoing. CHR-Region VII has already dispatched a Quick Response Team to investigate the killing of the four-year-old kid. ■
