⚠️(Trigger Warning: Violence, killings, assault)⚠️
The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) vehemently condemns the killings of three individuals in Las Piñas City.
According to reports, a woman and her niece and nephew, aged 19 and 11, were killed after being struck with a two-by-two wooden plank (dos-por-dos) by her live-in partner in Barangay Pulang Lupa Dos, Las Piñas City. The suspect’s four-year-old son also witnessed the vile incident.
The Commission condemns in its strongest form any act that impedes the most fundamental right – the right to life itself. Such heinous acts undermine the very essence of human dignity and security. This also highlights the ongoing threat of domestic violence among vulnerable individuals, particularly women and children, and the urgent need for comprehensive measures to ensure the protection and safety of those who are at risk.
Moreover, we urge the concerned agencies to provide debriefing and post-assessment assistance to the four-year-old child who witnessed this heinous act. No child should be exposed to such traumatic and violent experiences. It is imperative that this young child receives immediate psychological support and counseling to help process the trauma and mitigate any long-term emotional and psychological effects.
In line with this, we take note of the prompt action made by the Philippine National Police (PNP) and other relevant authorities. We call for an immediate and just administration of this case to make the perpetrator accountable in accordance with the rule of law.
The Commission, as the country’s Gender and Children Ombud, remains committed to its mandate of protecting the rights of all, particularly the vulnerable and the marginalized. Such acts have no place in our society and we must work together to stop the violence against women and children. ###
