CHR sa Pagsaulog sa 2024 International Human Rights Day ug sa ika-76 nga Anibersaryo sa Universal Declaration of Human Rights

The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) proudly joins the international community in celebrating International Human Rights Day and commemorating the 76th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) on 10 December 2024. These milestones underscore the enduring relevance of human rights in shaping a just and humane world.

With this year’s theme “Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now,” we are reminded by the critical importance of protecting and upholding our human rights in this moment, more than ever, to ensure a future founded on respect, peace, and a dignity for all.

As part of this celebration, CHR, together with the Inter-Agency Committee, successfully opened the 2024 National Human Rights Consciousness Week celebration on 04 December 2024. This week-long celebration is filled with impactful and engaging events that highlight the significance of human rights across all sectors in the country.

A key highlight of this year’s celebration is the unveiling of the Ania ang CHR Contact Poster, an initiative designed to expand access to human rights services. This innovation strengthens grassroots accessibility and complements the CHR MISMO digital platform, addressing digital divides and ensuring inclusivity for communities with limited internet access.

To mark the conclusion of this year’s momentous celebration, a grand culmination night will take place on 10 December 2024, highlighting the 2024 Gawad Karapatang Pantao. This recognition honors individuals and organizations that have made remarkable contributions to the promotion and protection of human rights in the Philippines.

As we reflect on this year’s celebrations, we are reminded that the fight for human rights is dynamic. While challenges and threats may take new forms, the core principles of freedom, equality, and justice remain steadfast—and so does our commitment.

Para sa ikatataguyod ng karapatan ng lahat! ###
