学生に対する最近の攻撃事件を非難する人権委員会の声明

The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) denounces the recent violent attacks made against two students in different incidents.

On 15 April 2024, a 19-year-old student was found in an unoccupied lot, bound with packaging tape around her head, hands, and feet in Zamboanga City. According to the report of Zamboanga City Police Office, the victim was forced into a van in Barangay San Roque. Upon being discovered, she was immediately brought into the hospital to attend to her injuries and for further assessment.

Meanwhile, a 13-year-old student was shot in the head while walking on her way to school in Agoncillo, Batangas on 17 April 2024. Reports say that a backtracking investigation is ongoing to identify the perpetrator.

The Commission expresses grave concern over these incidents, which not only endanger the safety and well-being of the youth but also undermine their fundamental rights. It is particularly distressing to note that both victims are young girls. Upholding the rights of every Filipino, especially girls and children, is integral to our collective vision of a just and secure society.

CHR notes the immediate response of the police in investigating the said violent attacks against the students. Pursuant to our mandate to protect the rights of all, CHR is conducting independent probe of these cases to exact accountability from the perpetrators.

It is imperative to address violence targeting all segments of society, especially safeguarding the welfare of girls and children. We enjoin the government in establishing policies and reforms that will further protect their welfare and ensure that they are able to pursue a future free from any harm.###
