The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) in Region IV-B is currently working on its independent investigation regarding the death of Anacorito Bolor, a barangay kagawad in Calapan, Oriental Mindoro who was stabbed to death in his house in Barangay San Vicente on 14 January 2024.

Also known as Dok Ting, Bolor, 63 years old, was also known within the area as a dentist and was also a former barangay captain before being elected as a kagawad in the recent polls. According to police reports, his belongings were scattered all over his room, leading the investigation to a possible robbery.

CHR notes the swift response of the Provincial Police Office for creating a Special Investigation Task Group to promptly resolve the killing of Bolor, alongside the effort of the Calapan City government to offer a monetary reward to further encourage a speedy resolution on the case.

As an integral part of our mandate and vigilance in the protection and promotion of the rights of every Filipino, CHR is also coordinating with relevant authorities and agencies to aid in the investigation of this case to ensure that accountability is exacted from the perpetrators.

Our continuing call for the government is to implement proactive measures that directly respond to the problem of reducing crimes on the ground. The Commission urges for concrete actions which address the root of the matter by establishing preventive mechanisms that promote the welfare of every Filipino and to finally put a stop on criminality.###
