The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) takes note of the recent remark on the qualifications and background of the newly appointed members of its Commission en banc—the Chairperson and two Commissioners. We wish to assure that, while the President appointed its recent composition as mandated by the Philippine Constitution, the Commission en banc is committed to preserve and uphold the independence of the country’s national human rights institution (NHRI). The present members of the Commission en banc also satisfies the the criteria of pluralism, one of the standards under the Paris Principles that NHRIs should meet in order to be effective and efficient in their mandate. CHR welcomes Atty. Faydah M. Dumarpa as the new addition to the sixth Commission en banc
The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) welcomes the new year with an addition to its sixth Commission en banc (CEB), Atty. Faydah M. Dumarpa, as Commissioner to the CHR. Her appointment paper was signed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on 28 December 2022 and was formally transmitted to CHR on 5 January 2023. Along with the rest of the CEB, Commissioner Dumarpa shall serve a full term of seven years from 2022 to 2029. In 2001, Commissioner Dumarpa worked as a political affairs officer in the House of Representatives (HOR).
