네그로스 오리엔탈에서 최근 발생한 연쇄 살인 사건에 대한 CHR 대변인 Jacqueline Ann C. de Guia 변호사의 성명

Press Statement | 27 July 2019

The Commission on Human Rights is alarmed by the spike in brutal killings in the Negros Oriental region. Over the past week, sixteen (16) people have been killed in the province, according to news reports. Some of the victims had placards placed on their bodies, warning others that they may be next should they break the law. The people of Negros Oriental deserve better than to live in fear of the rampant violence and brutality just outside their doorstep.

We urge government to properly investigate and take active measures towards putting a stop to these killings and finding the perpetrators, before more lives are needlessly lost. The CHR Regional Office in Negros Oriental is also investigating the killings in Siaton, Ayungon, and Sta. Catalina, and Guihulngan City. We will coordinate with the local authorities as best as we can to help the government bring justice to the victims.##
