The Commission on Human Rights V condemns the attack on members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) by an armed group believed to be Communists Terrorists. The PNP troops were providing security for the ongoing road construction that connects the provinces of Camarines Norte and Quezon. The road project will benefit the constituents not only of the two provinces but of neighboring places as well. Development such as this helps in the economy of the provinces in particular and the country in general.
The attack on the PNP that took place on 19 March 2021 at 9:24 PM in Purok 6, Barangay Dumagmang, Labo, Camarines Norte left five (5) PNP officers dead and two (2) PNP officers wounded. Killed in action were PCPL Roger Estoy, PAT Joey Quarteros, PAT Benny Ric Bacuring, PAT Jeremy Alcantara, and PAT Alex Antioquia. Wounded in action were PCPL Eric Hermoso and PAT Aldrin Aguito.
We send our condolences to the bereaved family of the killed PNP officers. This kind of killing is uncalled for and will not justify the ideology of any group. The Naga Sub-Office will be sending a team to investigate the ambush.
